The Redox Biology Center's Ninth Annual Minisymposium was held on Friday, September 23, 2011 in the Sheldon Museum of Art Auditorium. The minisymposium, hosted by Dr. Marjorie Lou, Mentoring Member of the Nebraska Redox Biology Center, focused on "The Good Side of ROS in Organisms". The minisymposium included a full day of presentations with a luncheon for all attendees. 

2011 scheduled speakers were Rodney Levine, Chief, Laboratory of Biochemistry, National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute; Nicholas Tonks, Professor, Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory; Andres Vazquez-Torres, Associate Professor, Department of Microbiology, University of Colorado School of Medicine; Kathy Griendling, Professor of Medicine, Emory University School of Medicine; Paola Chiarugi, Professor of Biochemistry, Department of Biochemical Sciences, University of Florence; Henry Rosen, Professor and Associate Chair for Research, Department of Medicine, University of Washington; Marjorie Lou, Willa Cather Professor of Veterinary & Biomedical Sciences, University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

The members of the External Advisory Council include Dr. Ruma Banerjee, Vincent Massey Collegiate Professor of Biological Chemistry at the University of Michigan; Dr. Patsy Babbitt, Head of Bioinfomatics at the University of California, San Francisco; Dr. Perry Frey, Robert H. Abeles Professor of Biochemistry at The University of Wisconsin at Madison; Dr. Vadim Gladyshev, Professor of Medicine at Brigham and Women's Hospital; Dr. Greg Petsko, Guyla and Katica Tauber Professor of Biochemistry and Chemistry and Director of the Rosensteil Basic Medical Research Center at Brandies University; and Dr. Irwin Fridovich, James B. Duke Professor, Emeritus at Duke University Medical Center.
